Marquis M. Converse founded Converse Rubber Shoe Company in the year of 1908 in Malden, Massachusetts. In 1917 the company presented their first basketball shoe, the Converse All Star, that with every step you took gave off a characteristic squeaking noise that today is firmly associated with basketball arenas and courts. At the Olympic games in 1984, Converse were the official supplier of equipment to basketball legends like Magic Johnson and Larry Bird, who have both collaborated with the traditional brand. Meanwhile, jogging, tennis, children's, skate and casual shoes also belong to the assortment of Converse shoes. Since 1996 Converse has held charity events in order to fulfill its social obligations as a company, and to support community projects and help society. There is hardly any other label that can boast such a long tradition in its background, and yet Converse is still one of the trendsetters in today's ever changing fashion business. The Converse shoe models are distinguished by their authentic urban qualities and connections to younger lifestyle. The Chuck Taylor All Star has gained world fame and has already sold in over 600 million copies - putting them on top as the number one best-selling trainer in the world. It is a rich source of inspiration for the new and cool styles of the brand Converse.
